About the Owner
Bruce Hampson, our company's founder, graduated from the University of Toronto with his diploma in lay ministry, and he currently volunteers at a men's shelter with those who are experiencing homelessness in the chapel. As he pursues his chaplaincy, he preaches in the chapel, bringing the history of the churches to light. Bruce has a passion for offering education about the historical events of the church, including the start of Lent and Advent. He also offers bible studies in his home.
Bruce has been in the publishing business for over 20 years and has seen a lot of good specialty bookstores close, especially books of faith. This inspired him to open an online bookstore in 2007 to bring to the consumer affordable products and books.
His compassion for those who are experiencing homelessness is immeasurable. BWH is helping to invest in Bruce's passion and commitment. He volunteers each fall by putting 550-600 backpacks together, complete with items that are needed to survive on the streets through his church. His ministry takes him to the streets to come alongside those who are in need offering an ear to listen, compassion, and guidance.
If Bruce is not at home, you may find him wandering the streets of Durham or Toronto looking for those who are in need.
